New Post information
At the conclusion of World War II, there were Fathers and Stepfathers of veterans that had honorably served their country in American bases, who were anxious to support the veteran’s rights and benefits. The DADS of Foreign Service Veterans was founded in 1944 in Columbus Ohio, because these fathers had not served Overseas. The first DADS Post was started and sponsored by V.F.W. Post 3863. A DADS Post can only be sponsored by V.F.W. that applies for the DADS charter through the DADS of Foreign Service Veterans of the U.S.
When opening a Post, the members have to apply through the VFW Post and, if any one of the members has served in the service abroad, he MUST join the VFW before he can become a DADS member.
The DADS Organization is open to any male over the age of 21 who has a family member – Male or Female – who is or was a Foreign Service Veteran. The Foreign Service is the key. It does not matter what it is called: war, military action, even Foreign Service in peacetime applies. As a “DAD ” of the D.F.S.V., you would help by supporting many of the VFW programs such as the VFW National Home in Eaton Rapids, Michigan.
If you have any questions, do not be afraid to contact any of these National Officers.
